Cover songs. In all honesty I like it when rockers cover mainstream music. Chances are I listen to the cover more than the original. The alternative/punk rock music scene has seen (no pun intended) covers increase in popularity over the years through viral videos and the famed Punk Goes Pop Albums, now on Volume 6. Punk Goes Pop are my favorite because not only do they feature amazing artists of all backgrounds such as Sleeping With Sirens, Forever the Sickest Kids, Tonight Alive, The Ready Set, and Miss May I, but you can also stream the albums on Spotify for free! For anyone who’s close minded out there and hates mainstream, trust me this hasn’t ruined music. Our favorite bands simply made other music better! So here is my question, do you love covers or do you hate them? Does it take something away from the original or does it add to it? Does it simply provide another persons take on the song meant to live side by side or is it a replacement? It’s just something to think about. Not everyone hops on board with a growling man covering Call Me Maybe but for others it’s a funny workout song. Recently I’ve been listening to a lot of Our Last Night’s covers which are really great and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for interesting covers because YES they covered Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkc6QgjbYyI ) and I will be honest, I love it. They do it better than Miley any day. Check out their Youtube channel/Spotify and you’ll see all of the covers they’ve done. If you’re looking for heavier music, start searching because I guarantee you will find some incredibly odd yet amazing metalcore, hardcore, and many other bands covering popular songs. So take a song you hate and see if a band you love saved it and made a cover!

Oh my god, are you really asking this? Love or hate? Really?
I personally don’t use the word “hate”. Rather I love, like or dislike, but i don’t hate. Because we should respect every style, kind of music out there, if you don’t like it you simply don’t listen to it. Now moving to the Punk Goes Pop volumes; you simply can’t hate on them, they are total perfection, the bands make a lot of effort to hand us something pretty different from what we used to hear on radios music channels on TV, something even better than the original. Maybe some people will say, they listen to PGP cause their favorites bands are in there. Yes i somehow agree with who ever saying this, but I personally talked with some friends I have who hate loud music, and made them listen to some covers and they loved it. I want to give another cover of Miley Cyrus’s Wrecking Ball that I wish if it could be on volume number 6, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMrHgIZ_PAM I really enjoyed the one of Our Last Night, but this one is more hardcore which I really prefer.Thanks.
I totally agree with everything you said. I try not to hate as well, in the post I may have used the word too much but in all honesty I’m one of those people who doesn’t dislike everything. I try and give everything a chance. For a long time though, mainly high school I had the love hate mindset and it took having my gay friend move in with my family to change how I thought. He put a lot of his music on my iPod and I became more accepting of other music. I love Selena Gomez, strange I know but I have respect for her, in high school I would have told you straight up that I hated her to the core. Luckily I don’t think like that all the time. And it’s funny how I finally get back here and see the link you shared, I just saw this on my FB newsfeed earlier today and I like the heavier side too. And that guy is pretty incredible as a one man band. I’ve listened through SWSs newest album multiple times so I’ll be sharing my thoughts in a post as soon as class work allows me to. I can say that I really like the album overall, even though it’s so different from past albums. But I’ll get to that! So sorry for the delay in response time and thanks for actual dialogue on here, I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts it’s a huge help!
